No Meat. No Dairy. One Month.

So did you know that April is National No Meat, No Dairy Month? Well, it's not but that's what I plan to do.

I've heard of some health benefits of being completely off of dairy. Since I have a little trouble with dairy and since I've never completely gone off of dairy for more than a week, I'd like to see how it goes. It's not going to be easy since I love cheddar cheese. I've also been eating yogurt every morning for a few years, which seems to help me because of the good bacteria they put in it. I've tried the Activia thing, too.

VegetablesAs far as going off of meat, that'll be a challenge, too. I'm not a huge fan of vegetables but I do like a fair amount of them. Some of the foods I'm going to probably eat are: rice, potatoes (red potatoes - yum!), green peppers, broccoli, onions, bananas, peanut butter, bread, applesauce, carrots, cereal, soymilk, corn, tomatoes, asparagus, tortillas, salads, oatmeal, eggs (I'm keeping eggs in my diet), pasta, noodles, corn chips, salsa, beans, oranges, apples, peaches, pears, strawberries, pineapple, crackers, nuts, peanuts. popcorn and tofu. No, just kidding about the tofu!

This will take some work planning meals and I'll need to do more cooking since all the microwave meals at the store seem to have milk in them. I stopped in at MyMenu and they have a few things. I know Whole Foods and Trader Joe's will have some options as well.

Wish me luck. I do plan to blog about this and post some of my favorite meals that I have.

If anyone has some ideas for vegetarian meals, let me know. I'm all ears!

-Tony
