The Ups and Downs of India

Ok, I have one annoyance... I don't know why but the people here push both the up and down buttons when they need an elevator ("lift") to take them, oh... let's say down. So the elevator is going up but has to stop at all of these floors where people have done this. Then, on the way back down, it has to stop at each floor again.

This is totally inefficient. It would have been better to just use the elevator like it's supposed to be used and they would get to where they (and everybody else involved) want to go faster.

The only possible reason that I could see that pushing both buttons is maybe possibly an advantage is if it's a crowded place and you want to secure a spot in the elevator. In those situations, everyone typically has to unload in order for the person in back to get off on their floor since the elevators are so small - so you wonder if packing everyone in is really saving any time at all still. But people seem to do this even at places that are not very crowded.

In elevator hell,
