Mike came over last night and we broke out the game he got me for Christmas, Burnout Paradise.
He knows I'm a big fan of driving games. I really only play games like Gran Turismo (3, 4 and 5) and Crazy Taxi (well, maybe a little Katamari Damacy, of course). Burnout Paradise (by EA Games / Criterion Game - formerly known as Burnout 5) is game where you're encouraged to have road rage. It's pretty awesome. Playing it on HD totally rocks. It's sick. The graphics are amazing. Every slo-mo video of each crash is unique and really well done. It's hard to believe this is a video game.
It's nice to change from playing Gran Turismo to a game where you can really wreck your car - on purpose. It's really fun.
Below is the trailer for it and then a review by G4.
I've been playing EA Games since Michael Jordan Vs. Larry Bird was on our first PC - in black and white.
Like the rest of the series, Burnout Paradise does not exist in anything close to the real world. Instead, it takes traditional racing and turns it on its head to create a gleefully surreal racing landscape full of mayhem that never crosses the line to overt sadism or actual malicious violence. Crashes are extreme, causing huge pile-ups of smoldering wreckage is the city’s great joy, and speeds are extreme.
