Well, I finally got the PS3, got it set up, downloaded ALL the updates (sheesh!) and then put in my game, downloaded those updates and got to playing. Oh, and I had to go get another HDMI cable - well, I didn't HAVE to get it but come on, it's HD and you get both audio and video in one cable. Circuit City had a HD started kit clearance item which included a little surge suppressor, cleaning spray with cloth, 8 foot HDMI cable and coax for just $1 more than just buying a lower grade 4 foot HDMI cable - so, good deal.
The game is great. Graphics are fenominal - as expected. They did have my RSX in the line up of cars to drive (which is a very limited selection) but it's listed as a 2004 Honda Integra Type R. Maybe that's the international version of it or something since they've listed it that way before. It's cool having the car you drive in a video game like this and it's nice when it's a good car that beats other cars. The disappointing thing was that I didn't know this game wasn't complete. I looked everywhere I could for the aftermarket upgrades and they were nowhere to be found. I then did more reading online and this version of the game is supposedly not done yet and the final version will be out next year or something. I guess Sony needed the game to help sell the PS3 or something... well, it worked. We'll have to wait for Polyphony to get it done. It's not clear to me if I'll get the rest of it when it comes out as an online upgrade or if I'll have to purchase it again (which would suck). Well, it's still fun to play. With my complaining here, I kind of feel like Piere Bernard on Conan - ok, that was a random sidenote, sorry. Yeah, still fun to play. I'm learning how to drift, which is fun. I wish I had the tire budget required to do it in real life. Maybe when these tires about about gone, I'll try it somewhere. There must be a track nearby where you can go. This is one of my life to-do items actually - some running around on a race track with a nice car. I'll report more later when the full version of GT 5 comes out. -T

I was able to enjoy the last half of Back to the Future last night in HD. Wow. Just amazing. I might turn into a movie junkie again since even watching movies that have been out a while just look so great.
My PS3 is sitting at the Post Office because they "tried" to deliver it to me - which I don't know how you try to deliver it without ringing my doorbell or even leaving a note but whatever. I'll go pick that up now. Cool! Seeing movies in Blue Ray (sp?) will probably turn me into a movie junkie even more - doh!

So my satellite is on the fritz right now. They're sending me a new receiver since mine keeps saying "Boot Recovery 061" for about 5 days. Anywho... I got an amplified antenna for this set and the channel coming in the best is Channel 3. I never really watch CSI: Miami but I had to watch something since it's been days since I've watched any TV and I had to test out this new set. The colors and sharpness is just amazing. It's incredible. And a 40" is plenty big for my living room. There are like 12 channels I can get over the air. I'll get my new Dish HD receiver in a few days so that I can discover more. Should be fun. -T

I just got a deal from Circuit City where they had bundled the exact HDTV I was looking for (Samsung LN-40A550) and a PlayStation 3 for just $141 over what Best Buy wanted for just the TV alone. I saw that offer and said, "Done deal!"
It was funny because I was doing more research this morning and was getting really close to making a decision on where to purchase it from. I was thinking Best Buy but Circuit City won with this bundle plus they had 3 months interest free financing - and I will pay it off next month. You were even able to apply for financing online, get approved and use that new account right then. Best Buy didn't seem to offer that, I checked.
I was raised to think that opening a line of credit was a bad thing. Well, it is, in a way. If you abuse it and spend it on things foolishly and don't have a plan to repay it, then you're definitely in hot water later. But getting approved for a line of credit and then only using a small portion of that credit actually increases your credit score.
Speaking of that, I heard of one more way to increase your credit score. I haven't heard much of this method but it comes from a trusted source - my mortgage guy. Let's say your parents have awesome credit - or maybe someone you know, you can have them make you an authorized signor (?) on one of their credit cards and then how that account is used (credit available, making payments on time, etc.) also gets put on your credit. They might not give you the card to use, but you get the benefits of their good money habits. Cool, huh?
Anyway, I'll go pick up this HDTV tomorrow, so if you don't hear from me in a while, I'm just watching TV! No, just kidding - summer is way to nice right now to stay inside. But I also did purchase Gran Tourismo 5 for the PS3, which is my favorite game, so I might have to play it just a little - ha!
The next thing will be picking out and installing a TV wall mount.
