I read a book a few years ago and it talked about how our drinking water isn't all that great. I've switched to spring water, which is about the best water for you since is good water that had just trace amounts of bacteria - which you need to help build up your body's defenses.
I'm no scientist or chemist, but from what I've read about flouride - you know the stuff they used to put in our toothpaste to make our teeth nice and bright - is that it's a very bad substance. It's toxic and poisonous, actually. It seems to be in our drinking water because there isn't a good way to dispose of it - so cities get paid to put it into our water, apparently (I'm not joking).
I was shocked to see a few weeks ago that someone gave me some bottled water they have and it said "With Fluoride!" on it. I almost fell over. ("Here, have some poison!") I might have had a sip of it but that's it. Please don't buy that water and give it to your kids.
There are sites out there that will promote the use of fluoride in drinking water, but you can be assured that those sources are just there to profit from the distribution of this dangerous chemical and they'll make it sound all nice and dandy. It's not.
Here's some research on the topic, if you're interested in finding out more:
Fluoride Will Ruin Your Teeth - And Your Health!
When I think of fluoridation, two words come to mind: medical
experiment. And the guinea pig is Y-O-U. That's right: Without any
solid proof that ingesting fluoride was beneficial for your teeth-and
with no safety tests conducted to determine its potential effects on
the rest of your body - the government moved forward with the mass
medication of the country's water supply.
Why is fluoride bad for you?
Always remember - the ADA is a trade union, a lobby whose main purpose
is furthering the economic advancement of the dental profession. The
ADA Doesn't Represent Dental Health. And in many cases the ADA doesn't
represent the dentists themselves. This is especially true in the class
action suit filed by some 40 dentists against the ADA in a DC Superior
Court.
Fluoride: An Invisible Killer
In fact, Fluorine is the most reactive of all the elements (elemental
Fluoride is never found by itself in nature) and it was only the
relatively recent laboratory-induced joining of Fluoride to Xenon, one
of the previously "inert" elements (those in the right-most column in
the picture above) that caused this group of elements to be renamed
"noble" instead.
Fluoride: A Bad Idea Whose Time Has Passed
Of major interest to us was the statement released Jan 2, 1997 from the
employees union of the Environmental Protection Agency, representing
1500 scientists, engineers, lawyers, and other professionals at EPA
headquarters in Washington DC. The statement reads: "Our members'
review of the body of evidence over the last 11 years, including animal
and human epidemiology studies, indicates a causal link between
fluoride/fluoridation and cancer, genetic damage, neurological
impairment, and bone pathology."
Yikes.
