Snow!

I'm seeing flurries today, so I'd like to officially report the first snow of the season. I heard there were some flurries the other day but I didn't see them, so that doesn't count - as far as this blog is concerned. :-)

I haven't turned the heat on in my house yet. It might just be a matter of days though.

Tonight I give my dry land lesson up at Cascade about how to make C-shaped turns. I think I've got it all ready. We'll see if I'm right or not. Hopefully it's not the total opposite of how to teach that.

I'll have to water proof my ski jacket this week. All my other equipment looks good. The skis will need to be waxed, so I'll probably bite the bullet and buy an iron. I have an extra room now, so that might become my ski tuning room where I can set up a place to work on skis. There's a window, so I can have ventilation there. It should work out well.

Then I need boots and bindings for my snowboard. I was going to go to the Cascade sale this last weekend but the Badgers were doing well and I didn't feel like spending money, so that (and the ski waxing equipment) might have to wait a bit.

I do not like the cold though. Even though I'm into skiing, I'd much rather have it warm. It's all about how you dress. I'm rarely too cold when skiing. It's comfortable if you do it right. When those temps get below 0 is when you start to feel it. That's when you put on the mask and just have your nose kind of exposed - and nothing else.

I'm excited about this season. The weather should be favorable for skiing. One thing I will get soon is snow tires. I need tires soon and I might as well get a winter set and then get a summer set in March. It'll be safer. The Bridgestone Blizzak look like the one to get, so I'll get them at either Sam's, Costco or Weber Tires.

Ski ya!
