Second Presidential Debate and Dane County McCain Signs

Well, not too exciting. McCain was reaching across the aisle again and, umm, ah... Obama seemed confusing. About halfway through, when Obama was dealing with Tom Brokaw a little, Obama seemed kind of like a cry baby but that didn't last too long and he recovered from that. Speaking of Brokaw, he just gave SNL some really good material with all the reminders to stay within the time limit.

I think one thing to remember when you hear politicians speak - especially Democrats - is that they'll say their opponent voted against something, like "he voted against education" or "he voted against money for the troops" well that is most likely true but only half the story. Often other, unrelated items are added to bills and so yeah, it's good that those particular bills are not voted on but the Democrats get to tell half the truth, which is deception. Doing that is more than "spin" but a total manipulation of the truth. The average American doesn't have time to research these things and just believes what they hear. It's too bad, but that's what is happening.

McCain said one thing and he used the word "never" in some phrase like "he never votes for..." and I don't think that's a good debate tactic because your opponent can easily refute that and say that it's not true. It's better to say "almost never" or something that's less absolute but still drives home the point since saying that would be harder to refute. That's just my opinion. I may be wrong on that.

So Obama is spending more than McCain on ads (Obama Outspending McCain 3-to-1 on TV Ads) so you think Obama would be farther ahead than he is. Remember, he was neck and neck with Hillary Clinton for a long time - too long. He should have wrapped that up in a much shorter time. I personally don't trust the polling data that's out there. I think they're biased, as always. So if history is any indicator of what's going on, Obama will probably need to be 8-10 points ahead in order to win. If it looks like he's too far ahead, that may deter some Democrats from going out to vote if it looks like he has it wrapped up - which is what you're hearing in the big media right now. So that could backfire. We'll see.

Meanwhile, in Madison, it's hard to get McCain signs because they're being vandalized left and right. They getting stolen and ripped up all over Dane County. If the Democrats really had it all wrapped up, would they need to break the law and vandalize these signs? Or is that just their standard operating procedure no matter what? Either way, that's just idiotic and immature. I'm glad most Republicans don't resort to these tactics and are not known for this type of childish behavior. It's really pathetic if you have to do this and just can't win fairly. I'm glad I'm not associated with cheats and crooks.

Update:

Speaking of the worst practices that the Democrats seem to love...

Son of Tenn. Democrat indicted in Palin hacking

...

Kernell's attorney, Wade Davies, accompanied his client in court.

"As soon as we found out about the charges this morning, David voluntarily turned himself in," said Davies, who refused to answer any other questions.

He pleaded not guilty but voluntarily turned himself in. He's not guilty yet but it doesn't look good if the feds found him and charged him.

I'm still glad I'm not a Democrat. Sure, there are some shady Republicans out there - nobody's perfect but the scales definitely tip one way over the other.
