Hooray for the iPhone 3G!

It’s official! My iPhone’s a paperweight!

Just kidding. They’re going to update it but the new one – the iPhone 3G – will have 3G speeds and real GPS. The price ain’t bad, either. Just $199 for the 8 GB and $299 for the 16 GB. I might have to save up my pennies.

Hopefully they’ve planned the hardware in this one a little better where it won’t be outdated in a year. I would think so. You learn a lot making the first version of anything and technology is changing all the time. In between the first iPhone and the iPhone 3G, they’ve come out with the iPhone Touch, so this is almost like version 3.

There’s also a new version of Leopard coming out: Snow Leopard. I hear that’s mainly security updates, but that’s cool. How often does Microsoft come out with cool updates to their OS (operating system) that everybody actually wants? Ya gotta give it up for Apple how they do things.

I’m excited that I’ll be able to use my iPhone in India on my next trip – that rocks. I missed using it on my last trip. I tried to use it but it didn’t work. I could have hacked it, I suppose but it’s too valuable to me to mess up.

The App Store for the iPhone sounds good. It’s about time to get more software for this phone/computer in my hand that’s 100x more powerful than the first computer I owned.

I’m a .Mac subscriber so the MobileMe upgrade sounds good – especially since I’ll get it for free. It’ll even sync up my PC – nice!

So, OK, yeah… they have been busy over there in Cupertino. Nice work!
