Back on March 6, 2008, Steve Jobs and Apple announced that they would be providing an SDK for the iPhone to developers. What does that mean? Well, it means that people/software companies will be able to create applications/programs for the iPhone. Why is this cool? Well, the iPhone's operating system is like a mini version of the Mac OSX operating system, which is quote powerful. So, in a nutshell, your iPhone is going to soon become a mini laptop with all the great software that will be available. It sounds like we'll start seeing some things in June, but I expect by October, there will be a wide range of programs available - probably things you never dreamed would be on a phone. Apple is also making the iPhone more enterprise friendly. This means you can use it to connect with a Microsoft Exchange server. This is a feature business users have been wanting for a while and have so far only been able to use inadequate "smart phones" that run a mobile version of Windows. In my opinion, there's a silent revolution going on here. Apple's in the right place for it, too. Computing has really slowed down with Microsoft in the lead so far. Computing should be far more advanced than it is right now. You can even see so far that Microsoft Vista was a flop. Apple's on its way to provide that solution and get us back on track. Just watch. -T

Yeah, something told me this would happen... someone's MacBook Air got thrown out with some newspapers because it was so light and small: Gone, Without a Trace When something is thin enough to fit into an envelope, light enough to sit on your lap for a couple of hours without discomfort and so compact that it doesn't even bulge in an airline seat-back pocket, wouldn't it make sense that one could lose track of such a thing? Even if it is a computer?
Yes, it would make sense. Believe me. Please. Because I can't find my MacBook Air. Read more >>
Pretty soon the iPhone will be so robust with third party apps that it will become a good enough portable computer where a laptop will really almost not be necessary. Just watch. -T

I really like my iPhone and all it does. It's great that new features are coming out. It looks to me like Steve Jobs and the team planned this on an architecture so that features can be added. So here is my wishlist of features and fixes that are needed: - Send voicemail via email. I want to be able to take what's in my voicemail and email to my work computer when a client calls my cell phone instead of my work phone. Or some kind of sync with iTunes may work, but making them to-do items would work better since I use Mail so much.
- We need some better way to get access to the screen when on a phone call. This really sucks. I'm on the phone, need to type in a number, look at the phone, no display. I turn it up and down, nothing. Oh, there it was for a microsecond. I'm not that fast. I have to listen to see if I can still enter numbers, no the recording is saying something else now, I missed it. Ugh!!
- My own ringtones. I hear this is coming.
- Widgets. Make it so people can make their own or so developers can. This might be coming, too.
- Back to My Mac. Boy would that be cool!
(more to come maybe) Thanks, -Tony

Ok, so I have a Logitech webcam from my PC that I needed to get working on my MacMini. I did some searching and found the MacCam project on SourceForge. I installed it and it worked like charm!
Now I just need the microphone to work better and it looks like this little gadget will do the trick.

Are you getting those pesky .docx files, too? What a pain. Ok, Microsoft, just go ahead and change it all again to make more money.
Well, you can get a free .docx converter from Microsoft (ok, you're forgiven... for now).

I went shopping with mom and dad last night to the Apple Store at West Towne after giving them a demo of my MacMini at home. What my dad really liked was how I selected 5 photos and did an export to a Quicktime slideshow movie, complete with audio in about 4 clicks.
My first convert would be Nadine, who is now going to receive her 3rd MacBook because the first 2 were lemons. Let's pray that this one's a keeper for her.
