I'm reminded of 2 clients that we've had over the years. With both of them, I heard the familiar words, "Our last web design company was terrible. They didn't listen to us and took forever to do updates." We hear that a lot, unfortunately and we're not sure why sometimes... but then sometimes (like in the instance of 2 clients in particular), we did find out why. It turned out that the problem wasn't with their last web design company, it was with the client (at least we think so). We found that they were very uneducated about web site design and were indeed hard to work with. I think in each instance, we went much farther than their last web design company to help them and to educate them, but it did get to the point where they were not taking our advice (after begging us for it) and then we were just spending too much time with them and not paying ourselves for it, so we had to graciously let them go. Yeah, there are 2 sides to the coin and maybe they had some undeserved or deserved gripes abous us, but since I can only think of 2 examples (out of how many clients now?), it would seem that their lack of understanding was a big hurdle that made us not a good fit for each other. Anyway, I say this because I've learned that you shouldn't always believe what you hear. It would be nice if things were that way and it's not to say that people are chronic liers but just that a slight change of angle on a situation can change someone's whole perspective. Examining everything you come across with wisdom is the best way to deal with things. Consider that your point of view may not be the best and know that with any point of view, you're not ever seeing the whole thing - something is always out of view no matter how you look at it. Who has the whole point of view? Well, I believe God does. Talk to him and you'll get the wisdom you need. -T
