Well, I'm doing some research on HD TVs now since I looks like I'll be able to pick one up in a month or so. I've been to some stores and have done some research online. The winner so far, for me is the Samsung LN-T4065F. It's a 1080p TV. I've heard that going to 1080P from 720p only matters from 55" and larger, but I've seen and also got a second opinion that it does matter on 37" on larger. I can see the difference. What matters more, though, at least to me is the contrast ratio. This is the ratio of how dark and how light things show up. The higher the ratio, the more difference it can show, so the better. There are ranges from 1500:1 all the way to 50,000:1 and probably higher. Prices also go up as the contrast ratio goes up. So the Samsung LN-T4065F that I'm looking at has a contrast ration of 15,000:1. That spec seems to be adequate. I'll be going to stores to make sure that's ok with my own eyes once more. The trouble with electonics is where to buy them. There are lots of deals online. If I can find one with low or free shipping, I'll do that. Another issue is model numbers. Sometimes manufacturers ship the same, identical electronic item to stores like Best Buy and Circuit City but with different model numbers. It's the same one though. That way, each has their own model and you can't come in with a lower price on that specific model. So buying online levels that playing field a little since the online retailers generally all use the same model numbers. Anyway, I look forward to seeing some HD programming, watching movies and playing video games in hi-def. A little Gran Tourismo 4 or 5 in HD would be sweet! -T
