Ok, they just do it different here.

I went to see the new Chronicles of Narnia movie, which was good from what I saw and heard of it. So I go to the earliest show today, 11 am. When the movie starts, there are about 20 people in the theater - in assigned seats and all talking. The movie's way too loud of course - I think they're a bit too quiet in the U.S. but this was loud. Some people trickle in as the movie is going. Then, after an hour into the movie, about 60 people file in, all talking and some are even yelling and stuff - very rowdy. Then there's the intermission. After it gets going again (they had to start and stop it since it wasn't playing right), you try to remember what was going on since there's no real place in the movie for an intermission - it wasn't made that way. People are talking still and also cheering, sometimes for the wrong thing. It's like being in high school, basically. Weird.

Then I try to get internet at this resort. I ask at least 5 times, all with the answer that the one guy who knows how to get someone a username and password is out or something. Finally, I get on after watching someone who has never used a Mac before get it set up.

What else? The phone keeps rining. We do the normal, "Hello?" "Hello?" "Hello?" thing, they mumble something I can't understand, I ask them to repeat it and instead of saying it a different way or slower, I get the same thing and then another "Hello?". I say I can't understand and then it's just quiet. They don't say anything and wait for me to hang up.

I think I'm about ready to head back home. It's been good but some normalcy would be great.

Hey Everyone!

Well, things are going well here. It's very hot - no wait... it's VERY HOT. Check out the weather in Chennai.

I've got a few more days and then I jump over the pond and head back. Before then, we're going to Mayajaal with the team tomorrow. That should be fun as long as we can stay cool. There's a pool, so we'll be able to cool off there and do things like go bowling, too. Should be fun.

My typical day is getting up about 7:30, checking email, showering / get ready and then walk over to Sparky's for a egg sandwich and coffee (I brought over some Starbucks coffee beans, so I'm enjoying that). Not only does the coffee wake me up but there's a really busy intersection that I have to walk across and that tends to wake me up quite a bit. :-) My driver then picks me up and I go to the office. When I get there, I order a watermelon juice (yummy), check email again, check in with the team and then download the Rush Limbaugh podcast. I get to work in the morning while listening to Rush. He's on even now as I write this. I'll either go out to lunch with Raghu or else order some lunch in. Throughout the day, I'll meet with my team here, help them and work on our new project. At about 6 or 6:30pm, I head back. The sun is down by 6pm, so it starts to cool off then. At night, I'll either eat at Sparky's again, order something in or just take a nap - like the first few days.

As I was going to sleep last night, I thought I felt the place a rumblin' slightly. That was about midnight here in India. China just had a few big ones but it doesn't look like it was at the time I felt something. There was one in Afghanistan, which would have been a lot closer, but the time didn't match up on that either.

I'm staying in the 4th floor of a building, so if there was one close enough, it would make sense that I'd feel it.

I remember the one I felt in Madison a few years ago. It's when I had the loft apartment, so since I was at the top of that building, I felt it. I'm still wondering if I can get earthquake insurance. I emailed my agent once but didn't get a response. Maybe he thought I was kidding.

OK, it's kind of morbid to think of this now but I've noticed a phrase I've been saying which, so far, fits me and one that'd I'd want on my tombstone (if I were to die tomorrow). That phrase is, "They're out there."

I think this phrase is very versatile and can be used so many ways. For me, I've first started using it to help deal with all the bad drivers out there. There's no use in trying to help of all them because it's just too big a task and one that could never be done. There are bad drivers out there, you're going to encounter them and there's really nothing I (or you) can do about them, so it's just easy enough to acknowledge their existence by saying "They're out there."

Some examples:

• Bad drivers (already mentioned).
  
• People that need God.
• Evil forces.
• Corrupt government officials.
• Annoying people.
• Politicians.
• Osama.
• and so on

This may change over time, but for now this phrase is working for me.
